Stylist Profile - Ryoji Imaizumi




Famous for his ground breaking editorial looks and innovative use of hand-made apparatus made to meet his on-set perfectionism levels, Ryoji really is an artist. Born in Japan he divides his time between Tokyo, Paris and New York City.



As Creative Director of Shu Uemura Art of Hair, his work involves testing new products, being in charge of hair for photo shoots, leading teams of hairstylists at Fashion Week, and being a spokesperson for the brand.


He assisted creative consultant Laurent Philippon and the renowned Eugene Souleiman. He has worked with Top photogrophers Michel Comte, Deborah Turbeville, Ben Hassett, Patrizio Rorenzo, Jager, Francesco Carrozzini, Walter Chin, Greg Kadel, Tony Kim and Luca Babini. Clients have included some of the brightest and best in the fashion world Lanvin Paris, Escada, BMW, La Perla, Strenesse, Victoria Beckham, Pomellato, and Hennessy.


Ryoji's brilliant work has been included in French Vogue, Italian Vogue, L’uomo Vogue, Tattler, The New York Times, German Vogue, American Men’s Vogue, American Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Chinese Vogue, Russian Vogue, i.d. Magazine, Dazed & Confused, FRENCH, Numero Tokyo, Commons and Sense. Ryoji’s talent has enticed the likes of John Galliano, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Madonna and Susan and David Rockefeller who he has styled for.
