Aya Tsukioka–Safety Clothing?
Japanese designer Aya Tsukioka has developed a novel way to feel safer for woman who are wary of walking alone due to the threat of attack in our ever violent world.
She’s developed a maxi skirt that transforms ninja style into a disguise. It changes the person wearing it into a coca cola machine. Such machines are widely seen on the streets of Japan hence her choice of design. How innovative. She’s also designed a similar product for children too.
They’re not cheap as they sell for around £400.
Would you feel safer in one of these?
I’m not sure I would but at least this designer is acknowledging the fact that as women we are feeling less and less safe on the streets these days. I know that my heart is constantly racing when I walk alone at night. Although a rape alarm may be a better choice than a disguise.

ReplyDeleteI really had to laugh those are so cool!
Other than that it is fun it is so amazing and creative! I just love it!
I would not feel safer but it's an interesting concept, kind of more of an art piece and definitely speaks volumes
ReplyDeleteWow, what an interesting idea. I don't know that I'd feel safer, it seems like it may be more of a statement about diminishing safety. But still, so creative and innovative.

ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea. I agree that I wouldn't necessarily feel safer wearing one of these designs, but the concept is very creative. I think by the time I felt the need to revert to my "costume" whatever was scaring me would already be on my tail and see me do it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this - very interesting and innovative. I wonder if it would really work.
