FBFF–Pre-plan outfits or not?

1. How do you determine what you will wear that day?

I’m eternally disorganised so mostly I just look in my wardrobe and see what I fancy wearing. It depends what I’m doing that day. For example if I'm taking the kids to the park I'll just put on something that i don't mind getting muddy. I’m in the UK so the park is always muddy lol.

2. Do you plan outfits out in advance for a whole week, month, weekend?

I dress on impulse so no i don't plan my outfits in advance. The exception to this is when i have somewhere special to go then I'll often plan my outfit days in advance. Saying that I'm famous for changing a million times even when I've chosen my outfit in advance. one thing I've realised is never ever go near my 2 yr. old when I'm all dressed up as he’s guaranteed to make a mess of himself then come running up to me and rub it on me. I actually think he does it on purpose.

3. Do you have any specific way of tracking outfits and items already worn so you don't repeat?

I don't use any fancy plans for this. I just use my memory. And shock horror sometimes I'll wear the same piece of clothing twice in one week. The shame! I wear what i want and it doesn't worry me if i repeat something. Where i live most the other mums dress like Vicky pollard from little Britain so there’s no pressure for me to never wear the same item twice.

4. How do you discover new combinations of items in your closet? (Trial try-ons?  Hanging items together?)

I tend to hang items together on the back of my bedroom door (on my super cute Japanese doll door hangers) to discover new combos. Or I'll lay them on my bed and see what works and what doesn't. Simple is best.

5. To streamline the process for 2011 what is one new thing you can do to cut down your dressing time?

Its not really about cutting down my dressing time as I'm quite quick anyway i would love to make sure my sons clothes are chosen the night before though as they take forever to get dressed in the morning much to my chagrin.

As usual t see the other fbff members posts get yourself over to Modlychic. If you want to take part next week you’ll also find the details there Smile

  1. Don't tell anyone, but I can almost guarantee that I will end up wearing at least 1 piece of clothing twice during a week. I think that is a major fashion faux paus nowadays! :P

My answers would have been much the same as yours - I don't usually plan anything out because I know I'd end up changing my mind that morning anyway, so why bother? I can see how planning out your son's outfits would be helpful, though!

P.S. Would love to see what those Japanese Doll hangers look like!

  8. How you feel about your 2 year old is how I feel about pasta with red sauce especially when wearing white. Just don't go near it!

  10. Having kids must make quite a difference when deciding what to wear. You are first blogger who mentioned that today. Good to hear a different perspective.

  11. I'm kind of similar, I don't tend to plan many outfits unless I'm going out partying then I'll decide in my head what I'm going to wear during the day. Other than that I kind of decide when I get up in the morning and I'm more than happy wearing the same thing twice in a week.

  12. I guess I am kinda of odd because I do plan my outfits because if I didn't it would make my mornings be completely out of sort before I go to work. I also iron my hubby's clothes when I iron mine a week ahead of time (he cooks most of the time so it's good balance).
I have doggies no kids who like to jump on my tweed pants or put their furry muddy paws on my shoes so it happens to me too sometimes.
And like you I don't mind wearing a piece of clothing twice in a week, I usually change my outfits up a bit because I like to change up the following week.

love that you are not really bothered about cataloging everything that you wear, i always think it depends on your mood and sometimes things can look a little too planned
