Emma-Bell-2011-1

Emma bell is a British designer who is heavily influenced by Japan. She’s already had three seasons at London Fashion Week as well as projects with GM Vauxhall, Irregular Choice, Designers Against Aids, Jodie Harsh and with musicians including Ladyhawke, Frankmuzik and Littleboots. On top of that she’s been featured in Dazed & Confused, Vice, Daily Mail, Cosmo, Elle Girl, WWD and so many others.

Her work is a feast for the eyes. With her love of of vivid colours and extravagant patterns her garments have a distinctly cartoonish feel. Her catwalk shows display a fondness for the extreme side of styling and makeup. In my opinion that’s how catwalk shows should be – something out of the ordinary.

She’s just returned from Japan where she was artist in residence at the Mino Paper Art Village combining age old paper making and fusing it with art and design. An experience that involved her living with a Japanese family for 3 months while working on the project giving her an insiders view on Japanese life.

I look forward to seeing how her time in Japan impacts her future collections. I think she’s a very exciting designer who provides something totally different to other British designers.

Emma Bell I salute you!
