Tabio Bloggers Event & OOTD

Last Thursday Tabio very kindly invited me to a bloggers event at their Kensington store so I made my way to London to attend the event. I was very excited as I’m a big Tabio fan, i’ve blogged about them before. For those who don’t know Tabio produces some of the most amazingly well made hosiery and socks for both men and women. They’re a Japanese brand who not only are a huge hit with bloggers but they’re also used by many top designers during London Fashion Week.
But before the event I met up with my awesome blogging buddies Cherie and Akeela. We all have a bit of a sweet tooth so we took ourselves off tio the fabulous Gelupo in Soho. Gelupo sells the most delicious Italian ice-cream and sorbets. I opted for the pistachio and the hazelnut and we spent the next hour discussing all manner of subjects including blogging, Osama Bin Laden and our career aims. Diverse or what?



Then we made the short journey via London underground to the Tabio event. As we were exiting the station we bumped into the fab blogger Anne-Marie who i’ve been wanting to meet ever since missing her at LFW. This lady is impeccably stylish and her makeup was flawless (super jealous). All round PR genius and fashion/beauty blogger Lois greeted us at the door and handed us a raffle ticket, this ticket enabled us to choose any product we liked from the store. How amazing is that? I was in hosiery heaven. All around us were tights and socks in every imaginable style and colour.






And no good blogging event would be complete without yummy food

Kenzo Pre-Fall 2011 Collection

Kenzo have released images of their pre-fall 2011 collection and wowsers its a beauty. With a distinct 70s glamour feel to it. It features bold prints, masculine tailoring, luxe fabrics with a touch of sass. Think a 1970s gangsters moll and your on the right track. With an abundance of different textures and some pieces with a tribal feel to them Kenzo really have delivered. The Japanese brand never fails to deliver and this year is no exception.

Take a look at this little selection and judge for yourself. I’m especially loving the waist cinching belts. What’s your fave piece?

Jum Nakao–Papier Extraordinaire

He is a marvel in fashion design. The Brazilian-Japanese fashion designer created these magnificent designs out of paper! Yes you heard me right Paper. The Japanese have long been experts in the art of origami (paper folding) but these designs take that to another level. From 80s style puffed up sleeves to intricately designed full skirts, embroidery style garments and birdcage style skirts this collection has it all. This collection has a definite vintage feel to it and the designer teamed these wonderful creations with headwear reminiscent of a Lego figure to complete the ethereal look.

Jum Nakao works out of a workshop in Sao Paulo, Brazil and runs design workshops on a regular basis.

Eco Conscious Japanese Designer–Ikkuna/Suzuki Takayuki

 

Ikkuna/SuzukiTakayuki’s concept is simple ‘he wishes a lot of people had more chances to feel the kindness of organic cotton through what we call fashion’.

This brand is involved in the production of the cotton through the growing and spinning stages through to the construction of the garment. They only use dyes from extracted plants too so these garments truly are eco conscious and organic.

Their designs are simple, understated and minimalist but well made, excellent quality and made from the highest quality organic cotton.

Mass produced standard cotton accounts for 25% of harmful pesticides worldwide but organic cotton uses no pesticides and is beneficial to the environment. The cotton used in ikkuna/suzuki takayuki garments is also fair trade ensuring the farmers growing the cotton receive a fair price for their product. Also no child labour is used in producing their clothes which delights me as this has long been an issue close to my heart. I remember attending a gig in Sheffield a few years ago by an artist called Get Cape Wear Cape Fly. At this gig he used the platform to name and shame companies that used child labour. Two such companies were Nike and Gap. Ever since that day I’ve not bought from either of these stores. They may well have ceased these practices since but I still refuse to buy from them. Child labour is an abhorrent way of producing clothes and I won’t support any company that have used or uses it.

My 1st Foodie Post

So anyone who follows me on twitter knows I love to cook. I’ve been toying with the idea of adding foodie posts to my blog but thought people would get bored reading them but after convo’s with my twitter buddies I’ve decided to test the waters and do my 1st food post. As this blog is all about Asian things I’m going to limit myself  to blogging Asian recipes. So here is my 1st one.

Cod Japanese Style







Ingredients

Fresh Coriander

Tinned or Fresh Shiitake Mushrooms

Sake

Fresh Cod

Salt



Method

1. Lay all your cod pieces onto a baking tray.

2. Season the cod.

3. Pour a tbsp of sake over each piece of fish.

4. Add fresh coriander to each piece and place a shiitake mushroom on top.



5. Place in oven and bake at 150 degrees celsius.



Yummy. Serve with rice or noodles and enjoy!
