17 BB Cream Review

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Korean BB Cream particularly the Missha and Skin 79 brands. Now they've made their way onto the British high street and I couldn't be happier. But do they compare with the Korean version and what exactly is a BB cream?

BB stands for blemish balm. Put simply it's a formulation that aims to deliver full coverage, hide imperfections, hide dark circles, even skintone, moisturise, correct skin complaints and protect against UV rays.

The 17 version comes in two shades light and medium. I opted for medium and it was a good colour match. But I was disappointed in the lack of colour choices. There are more than 2 shades of skin after all. I was sorely disappointed in the garnier version so I'm hoping this one fares better.

Price

Currently on offer for £5.99 but the usual price is £6.99. 17 is also on 3 for 2 at the moment.

Results

17 claim that it evens skintone, covers imperfections and gives a flawless finish. But are the claims true? In a word - NO! I suffer from light and dark areas on my face like a lot of mixed race ladies so hoped that their claim that it evens skintone was true. But no such luck. After application my skintone wasn't evened out. Very disappointing.

The result was far from a flawless finish and imperfections were in no way hidden. When I use my Korean BB cream it does do what 17 claims to but the 17 one is a big fail. It is less of a BB cream and more of a poor tinted moisturiser. It does give your skin a nice sheen but that's its only redeeming quality.

Would I buy it again? In two words - no way! I'd be better off buying a foundation. It would give me much better coverage. So disappointed with this product. It seems I'll be buying the Korean version until the UK ups its game.

Review–Sleek Pout Paints

There has been a tonne of buzz surrounding Sleek’s Pout Paints so of course I had to try it out. It’s described as a heavily pigmented lip colour that can be mixed to create your own unique colour. But does it live up to the hype?
The shades I tried were milkshake, peachy keen and Rosette. The first thing I noticed was that the contents felt crunchy inside the tube but as soon as you open the tube that dissipates and the tube then feels soft and fluid inside. How odd!

The one thing I noticed while applying them is how time consuming it is, due to the heavy pigmentation . It’s very pigmented so the look won’t be for everyone as it’s very bright and in your face definitely not one for shrinking violets. It’s also not at all transfer proof. My coffee cup was left with a bright lip print on it and I wouldn’t go near your boyfriend while wearing it or he’ll be left looking like a clown. It mixes really well though so it’s perfect for creating your own shade and it comes in loads of different colours. It lasted well though – four hours in and my lips were almost as vivid as they were when I applied it despite the transfer onto my coffee mug.

I love bright pigmented lippies so I am a fan of this product but as I said before it’s not for everyone. I’m dark skinned so this product is one of the few lip products that actually standout on me and I usually find that many lip products aren’t pigmented enough against my dark skin.

Top to Bottom – Peachy Keen, Milkshake, Rosette

My favourite of the bunch was definitely Rosette. It’s a lovely bright fuschia and was by far the easiest to apply evenly. I’m really keen to try the other colours in the collection and to experiment more with mixing shades. For those less adventurous there is a white shade that can be mixed with the others to lighten up the colour. So has anyone else tried the pout paints? What did you think?

Bliss Lemon and Sage Body Butter

Bliss began as a day spa in the wonderful city of New York, USA. Then they began their product line and now it sells all over the world. Alot of the top fashion magazines have hailed this product for its skin softening products so i thought i would give it a try. At £20 a tube though its not cheap. Lets see if it lives up to its reputation.

Fragrance

This body butter has a lovely citrusy fragrance which is made even stronger if you use it alongside their lemon and sage body wash (as i did). Its not too overpowering though just very pleasant.

Texture

This butter has a silk like texture very smooth. It felt lovely to smooth on and was absorbed quickly and easily.

Softness

Now i understand the fuss over this product. It made my skin super soft and was non greasy. Being part black i'm prone to very dry skin and this product worked better than anything i've ever tried.

Price

Of course its quite pricey but the tube is very big and you only need to use a very small amount so even if you use it every day it will last a good few months.

Overall

I cannot rave enough about this product and i'm even more keen to use more fresh products after trying this. The scent combined with the softness make it a winner with me. 10/10

Fragrance

This masque smelt divine just like real chocolate. It smelt good enough to eat. My 2 year old thought it was chocolate spread :) Yummy

Consistency

This went on smoothly and had a good consistency to it. I applied it in the bath and even with the steam it didn't run. Lovely.

Skin Softness

My skin felt super smooth when i rinsed it off its very rich though so i wouldnt recommend it for oily skin but it was perfect for my dry skin. And my face smelt lovely and even a day later my skin was still soft.

i would definitely recommend this mask and i will be using it again. Its divine!

Violet’s nails - review :)

Hey there. So today i received my nails from Violet in the post. So exciting!

Packaging

They were wrapped in lovely material and came fixed to a pretty material covered board. I love the way she stores them. Usually they are sold in ugly plastic packaging and they all fall out when you try to prise them out so Violets way is much more practical and a whole lot prettier.

Appearance

I've bought nails online before and found  that they didn't look like they did in the photo so i was pleasantly surprised when they arrived because they were exactly like the photo. The nail varnish used had a lovely shimmer to it and it had cute little love hearts on them as well as little painted desserts. The chocolate dripping over the tips is a lovely finishing touch.

Usability

These nails are super practical for a busy mum like me. The length is perfect long enough to look pretty but short enough for me to be able to pick up my 2 year old son without my nails scratching him. I thought the heart gems would catch on clothing etc but surprisingly they don’t.

Price

The ones i purchased amounted to about £10 which is very reasonable. In the uk it costs about that to get plain ones so i was very happy with the price especially as it includes shipping.

Durability

Well so far I've worn them while washing the dishes, having a bath, cleaning and chasing after the kids and they are still in perfect condition and they didn't come off so i would say they’re pretty durable.

So in conclusion i would say these nails are a winner. Affordable and beautiful and shipped quickly. What more could you want in a set of nails. I’ll be ordering more very soon. i would definitely recommend giving her site a visit to see what you fancy. And her blog is deffo worth a visit for any hime gyaru.
